On December 2nd, 2019 the Delaware Township passed a resolution adopting the 2015 International Fire Code and establishing procedures for conducting fire inspections on commercial properties located within Delaware Township.
The resolution established a fee schedule for conducting these inspections. The formula used for this fee is: (Square Foot Factor) * multiplied by (Degree of Difficulty Factor) ** multiplied by (Base Rate) *** = Inspection Fee
The resolution established a base rate of $180 effective 01/01/2020. The square footage factor is based on the chart below.
*Square Foot Factor:
#0 | = | Under 1,000 Sq. Ft. |
#1 | = | 1,000 Sq. Ft. or larger up to; |
#2 | = | 3,000 Sq. Ft. or larger up to; |
#3 | = | 10,000 Sq. Ft. or larger up to; |
#4 | = | 40,000 Sq. Ft. or larger up to; |
#5 | = | 80,000 Sq. Ft. or larger up to; |
#6 | = | 100,000 Sq. Ft. or larger. |
The Degree of Difficulty Factor is assigned by the Fire Chief or their designee. The chart below uses building occupation classes for establishing a baseline Degree of Difficulty. This may be adjusted by the Fire chief or their designee as deemed necessary.
#1 – Low. All buildings or portions of buildings classified as Group B, M, R (not to include Group R Division 3) and U occupancies.
#2 – Medium. All buildings or portions of buildings classified as Group A, E, S or LC occupancies
#3 – High. All buildings classified as high-rise buildings; all buildings or portions of buildings classified as Group F, H or I occupancies.
Certain buildings and occupants are exempt from this fee. More information on this exemption can be found in the full resolution.
